French President Emmanuel Macron, in a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Ibrahim Raisi, felt that Tehran has the right not to trust Washington.
Iranian news agency "IRNA" reported that Macron had a phone call with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, during which they discussed ways to develop relations between the two countries, regional issues and the evolution of the Vienna negotiations on the Iranian nuclear dossier.
He quoted Macron saying that "Iran has the right not to trust America, because it is he who caused the Iranian crisis".
For his part, the Iranian President referred to the US side's recognition of the failure of the "maximum pressure" policy, saying:
"The Islamic Republic of Iran has demonstrated during the negotiations its willingness and seriousness to reach an agreement
and any effort by the opposing party in this area should include the cancellation and verification of the embargo and the granting of reliable guarantees in this regard.
He stressed that "stability and security in the region will only be achieved through regional means and not external interventions"
calling on the international community to pay attention to the humanitarian crisis facing the Yemeni people.
