British Prime Minister Boris Johnson apologized on Monday for hosting parties in Downing Street during the lockdown, but insisted he and his government could be trusted.
Johnson's apology comes after an internal report into the party's scandal at the UK government headquarters concluded there were 'errors of leadership and judgment,' the chief secretary said on Monday. of the Cabinet, Sue Gray.
Gray said she was limited in what she could say about the long-awaited report, after City of London Police launched their own investigation into the scandal.
But in the 12-page report, Gray denounced "excessive drinking" at several Downing Street events when the public was under strict social restrictions.
"There were lapses in leadership and judgment on the part of several parties in Downing Street and the Prime Minister's Office at different times.
Some events should not have happened," said the report received this morning by the Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
And she continued: 'Other events shouldn't have been done the way they were done.'
Police are investigating 12 incidents with possible fines for participants, including Johnson, for breaching regulations imposed to contain Covid-19 over the past two years.
The Prime Minister has faced demands to resign following the "party scandal".
