The fourth dose of the vaccine shows limited results against "Omicron"

The Israeli Sheba Hospital announced that preliminary research indicates that the fourth dose of the Corona vaccine provides "limited defense" against the "Omicron" mutant, which spreads throughout the world.

Last month, Sheba Hospital began administering a fourth vaccine to more than 270 medical workers (154 who received the Pfizer vaccine and 120 who received the Moderna vaccine)

all of whom were previously vaccinated with three doses of the "Pfizer" vaccine.

The clinical trial found that both groups showed a "slightly higher" antibody rise than after the third dose of the vaccine last year. But, he said, the rise in antibodies did not prevent the spread of "Omicron."

"Despite increased antibody levels, the fourth vaccine offers only partial defense against the virus," said Dr. Gilly Regev Yochai, director of the hospital's infectious disease unit.

Dr. Nahman Asch, director of Israel's Health Ministry, said the investigation does not mean that the fourth vaccination attempt was wrong.
