The first baby of the year is finally born in Lanaudière

The first baby of the year 2022 in Quebec was born in the Lanaudière region, at exactly midnight, at the Pierre-Le Gardeur Hospital in Terrebonne.

The infant, born at two seconds past midnight, is a seven-pound girl.

"We confirm to have welcomed at midnight at Pierre-Le Gardeur Hospital a little girl, whose parents are Kim Desautels-Daviault and Michel Paradis," said the CISSS de Lanaudière.

According to what a relative said, the mother is a nurse in the obstetrics department at the same hospital.

The race for the first baby of the year was almost won by a boy named Charles, born at 12:37 am at the Saint-François d'Assise Hospital of the CHU de Québec-Université Laval 

in the Capitale-Nationale. Two minutes later, at 12:39 am, a girl was born at La Malbaie Hospital.

In Saguenay – Lac-Saint-Jean, the first baby of the year is a boy born in Chicoutimi at 1:30 am.
